The Sleigh family connection with the worlds of automobiles and motorsport is as impressive as it is longstanding. David’s grandfather, William Lowrie Sleigh, co-founded Rossleigh LTD in 1889, a name that, even now, in the 21st century, is synonymous with quality car sales and servicing.
As a child David did not have to look very far to find motor racing inspiration. His father, Tom Sleigh, competed in Circuit Racing against the likes of Jackie Stewart, before moving to Hill climbing, winning the Scottish Roadcar Championship in 1969.
Along with his brother Tim, David formed Team Sleigh Racing in 2008 and has been a dominant force in Scottish motor racing ever since. Initially competing in the Fiesta XR2 championship before moving on to the Scottish Mini Cooper Cup, the Team Sleigh Racing drivers have performed at the highest level in every category with numerous outright championship and newcomers titles, including David winning the Scottish Mini Cooper Championship title in 2011 and 2012.
Newly formed in 2014, David Sleigh Racing is seeking to emulate the success of Team Sleigh Racing and sees David mentoring a fresh crop of drivers in Celtic Speed Scottish Mini Cooper cup. As well as supporting David Sleigh’s own racing ambitions, David Sleigh Racing was founded with the aim of providing an excellent race car support and hire package. With David’s exceptional technical race knowledge and the support of a team of highly experienced race engineers, he can offer his drivers a unique opportunity to race in a very competitive championship.
