FAMILY BACKGROUND

ROSSLEIGH LTD

The Sleigh family connection with the worlds of automobiles and motorsport is as impressive as it is longstanding. David Sleigh´s grandfather, William Lowrie Sleigh, co-founded Rosssleigh LTD in 1889 – a name that, even now, in the 21st century, is synonymous with quality car sales and servicing.

TOM SLEIGH - FATHER

As a young boy, David Sleigh did not have to look very far to find motor racing inspiration. His father Tom Sleigh competed in Circuit Racing against the likes of Jackie Stewart, before moving to Hill climbing: winning the Scottish Roadcar Championship in 1969.

Having attended many Hillclimbs and race meetings as a child, David´s hands-on engine powered vehicle experience began riding motorcycles with various off-road bikes.  Competitive four-wheel racing began in his late teens driving Pro Karts, which he raced in team championships and one-off races.
